A little about ourselves
We have updated all of our computers to Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 10.
All of the computers in the lab and in the classrooms have been upgraded.
In Computer Lab we have classes in Technology for Pre-School 4 through Fifth Grade.
All of the classes, Pre-K through 5th have Smartboard Interactive White Boards in their classrooms.
In PreK, the students will be using the Paint Program to create stained glass windows. This helps them with the mouse. They will be using programs that will enhance the things they are using in their Academic Classes.
All the children K-6 will practice keyboarding, practicing 2 handed typing and Grades 2-6, practicing keyboarding without looking at the keys.
In Kindergarten, the students will be using abcya.com and starfall.com to practice the skills they are learning in their Academic Classes.
In Grade 1, the students will also be practicing their typing skills using abcya.com and the Keyboard Zoo. They will use abcya.com-Grade 1 and starfall.com to practice their Academic Skills. This year they will be working on their keyboarding skills and on their skills with Microsoft Word.
In Grades 2-5 we will be using the code.org program to introduce Computer Coding to the classes or to enrich the skills already learned. Grades 3-5 will be offered the opportunity to join an after school Coding Program...so far 7 have registered for it!
In Grade 2, the students will be practicing their Microsoft Office Skills. They will add more skills to the ones they already possess. They will be adding borders, frames, recoloring pictures and so much more. They have been introduced to a keyboarding program-freetypinggames.net. They will practice their keyboarding skills without looking at the keys. They really seem to enjoy this program. Some have been introduced to a reading program-Reading Blaster 9-12, to reinforce their reading skills. They will be practicing their copy/paste skills by making their own coloring pages.
In Grade 3, the students will be practicing their keyboarding skills. They will be using freetypinggames.net to practice and they will cover the keyboards with a cover, so they can't look at the keys! They are also practicing their Microsoft PowerPoint Skills. They will complete a PowerPoint about themselves.
Grade 4 will be and and Grade 5 has been introduced to their own Google Chrome Account. They can begin work at home and/or school and after logging in, they can continue their work already begun.
Grade 4 students will be practicing their PowerPoint Skills. They will also be using their skills to work on classroom projects. For keyboarding practice they will use freetypinggames.net. They cover the keyboards with a cover, so they can't peek at the keys. With this program, they can work at their own pace.
Grade 5 students will work on reviewing all the skills learned up to this point. They will go further in Microsoft Word and also Publisher. They will practice keyboarding, with freetypinggames.net and keyboard covers to hide the keys. They are becoming more proficient with their skills.
